About Me
Hi, I’m Alicia Almond, the founder of Almond Therapy & Counselling. I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science, a Master of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and a Master of Teaching (Secondary). I have worked as a psychotherapist for four years and previously spent two years teaching Psychology, Science, and Tailored Learning in secondary school settings. My background in both therapy and education has given me a strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people, as well as adults navigating life transitions, stress, and mental health concerns.
I work with adults of all ages and teenagers (aged 15–18), supporting concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, self-esteem and self-confidence difficulties, OCD, PTSD, and everyday life challenges. I am passionate about helping people improve their quality of life, function more confidently in daily situations, and feel better equipped to manage ongoing stressors.
I aim to create a space that feels safe, welcoming, and supportive — where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

My Approach

At Almond Therapy & Counselling, I believe in the power of therapy to support positive change and improve wellbeing. My approach is client-centred and grounded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based therapy shown to be effective in improving mental health. CBT focuses on the interconnectedness of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and how these patterns can influence the way we experience and respond to challenges.
Therapy is collaborative and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Together, we work to identify unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and set achievable goals that support meaningful progress. Sessions are structured yet flexible, allowing space to explore concerns while also focusing on practical tools that can be applied in everyday life.
I take a holistic view of mental health, recognising that wellbeing is influenced by many factors, including life circumstances, stress, relationships, and personal experiences. I aim to create a supportive environment where clients, particularly teenagers and young people, feel comfortable, understood, and supported as they navigate challenges and build confidence, resilience, and emotional skills.
I understand that beginning therapy can feel daunting, and I work at a pace that feels respectful and manageable for you. My goal is to support you in developing the insight, skills, and confidence needed to improve your wellbeing and navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
